Elmhurst Jr. Duke Wrestling

Exhibition meets will be held against local club teams throughout the season and are excellent opportunities for wrestlers of all ability to test their skills.  Participation in meets is optional and free to our wrestlers.  Some club teams may charge a small door fee to spectators.

Wrestlers can wear either singlets or shorts and a t-shirt but should have wrestling shoes and headgear.  You do not need IKWF cards for meets.  Wrestlers must know their weight and be able to communicate it to coaches to be sure the are paired up properly.

Exhibition meets last from 1.5 to 2 hours and participants wrestle 3 to 5 matches in that time.  Wrestlers are paired up by experience and by weight.  During exhibition meets, several matches will run at one time.  Each match has a coach or high school wrestler to referee the match and give pointers as needed.

Competition outside of practice is important for wrestlers to test their progress, to understand the importance of what is being taught to them and why, and in many instances it motivates wrestlers to learn more in the practices that follow.

Meets that the Elmhurst Jr. Dukes Wrestling Team will participate in this season will be posted below and also be listed on the Club Calendar.  Last minute changes to the meet schedule that are due to weather or other emergencies will be posted on the Home Page as news.  If there is an official schedule change well in advance of the date, the change will be made to the Club Calendar, on the schedule below and the change will be posted as news on the Home Page.
