Elmhurst Jr. Duke Wrestling

4/4/09 NEWS:  The Jr. Dukes Banquet will be held on Thursday April 23rd at 7:00 PM at the York High School cafeteria.  The cost is $5 per family and we need some donations of water, Gatorade, paper plates and napkins.  Please RSVP to Brian Schilling and Terry Clarke by April 10th to attend.

3/18/09 NEWS: Our last regular season practice for the White and Black Groups will be held tomorrow night, Thursday 3/19.  All are welcome and we look forward to a fun practice.

3/17/09 RESULTS: Congratulations to Brandon Kupczyk for representing the Elmhurst Jr. Dukes at IKWF States in Rockford, IL this past weekend.  Brandon did not place, but it was a great end to a strong season.  Congratulations Brandon.

3/16/09 NEWS: There are just TWO regular season practices left!  The last practices will be Tuesday (tomorrow) and Thursday.

3/10/09 NEWS: As a reminder, there is NO PRACTICE this Thursday, March 12th.

3/7/09 RESULTS: IKWF Sectional Tournament Results are now posted.  Be sure to visit the Tournament Results page to view the complete listing.  Here are some hightlights from the tournament:

• Brandon Kupczyk qualified for the IKWF State Tournament with his 3rd place finish in the Senior 115lb weight class.  Brandon had 3 pins in the tournament including one in his consolation finals match.  Congratulations Brandon.
• Christian Schilling finished 2nd in the Intermediate 58lb weight class with a heart breaking loss at the buzzer in the finals.  Congratulations Christian for a great tournament.
• Jeremy Annicella finished 4th in the Novice 122lb weight class.  Congratulations to Jeremy for ending the year with a strong finish.

3/3/09 INFORMATION: IKWF Sectional Tournament to be held SATURDAY March 7th - Our Sectional Tournament will be held this Saturday, March 7th at East Aurora High School.  Weigh-ins are from 6:30 - 7:30am.  Wrestling begins at 9:00am.  Only those that placed in the top 6 at Regionals Intermediate Division or older are qualified to wrestle in the Sectional Tournament.  There is no Bantam wrestling at Sectionals.  Intermediates (the 9 and 10 year old division) do not advance beyond the Sectional Tournament.

2/26/09 NEWS: The Elmhurst Jr. Dukes have 29 wrestlers entered in this Sunday's IKWF Regional tournament.  Weigh-ins are from 6:15 to 7:30am at Willowbrook High School.  You must weigh-in Sunday morning.  Wrestling begins at 9am.  Good luck to all.

2/23/09 NEWS: Despite the original schedule, we will hold practice tonight.  There will also be practice on Thursday.  There will NOT be practice on Wednesday.  This is so we can get all things completed in time for the Regional tournament seeding meeting on Wednesday.  The updated calendar has been emailed to you and has also been posted in the Parents Center.

2/23/09 INFORMATION: Reminder, your wrestler MUST weigh-in before the Regional Tournament.  Weigh-ins are from 6:15 - 7:30am.

2/22/09 INFORMATION: To all those interested, Our Regional Tournament will be held on Sunday, March 1st at Willowbrook High School, 1250 S. Ardmore Avenue in Villa Park.  Weigh-ins are from 6:15 - 7:30am. Wrestling is to start at 9:00am.  The top 6 place winnners will advance to the Sectional tournament.  NOTE: Bantams (the 8 and under division) do not advance beyond the Regional tournament.

VERY IMPORTANT... If your wrestler wishes to participate in the IKWF Regional tournament, you must sign up by no later than Tuesday, February 24th.  There will be a sign up sheet at practice on Monday and Tuesday.  Please list your wrestler on the sheet, include your choice of weight class and your wrestler's record.  Please also place one IKWF weigh-in card in the envelope attached to the list.   It is very important to have your wrestler's record for seeding purposes for the Regional Tournament.

2/16/09 NEWS: Last Green Group Practice - The last Green Group practice will be held tomorrow, Tuesday February 17th, 2009.  A very sad day.

2/15/09 RESULTS: Beast of the East Tournament Results - The Elmhurst Jr. Dukes wrestled in the Beast of the East tournament at Lincoln-Way East High School on February 15th.  Three wrestlers placed 1st, Paul Cozzi, Tommy Helton and Brandon Kupczyk.  Congratulations to all the wrestlers that participated.
