Elmhurst Jr. Duke Wrestling

1/28/10  YORK MEET: Tonight, Friday January 28th the York wrestling team faces Downers Grove North and is York's last home meet of the season.  The Varsity and Freshmen meets are scheduled to begin at 7:30pm.  The Freshmen are competing for the Conference Championship!  Jr. Dukes wrestlers are invited to attend at NO CHARGE if they wear their Jr. Dukes t-shirts!  Good luck to York!

1/27/10  TEAM PHOTOS:  Reminder, team Photos will be taken tomorrow night, Thursday January 28th at 6:30pm.  Please arrive at practice by 6:15 to be dressed and ready.  Photo forms will be made available.  All Jr. Dukes wrestlers are to wear their 2010 team shirts and shorts for the team photo.  If they have one... wrestlers should wear their singlet under their shirts and shorts so they can have it on for the individual photos.

1/25/10  TOURNAMENT RESULTS:  Huge news!  Congratulations to Tommy Helton on his top 8 finish at the Tulsa Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma!  Four Jr. Duke wrestlers participated in the Tulsa Nationals held on Thursday January 22^nd and 23^rd, the oldest National Youth Folkstyle tournament in the Nation, this year marking the 55^th annual.  View all those that particpated at the Tournament Results page.  View photos from our trip in the Photo Gallery.

1/20/10  TOURNAMENT INFORMATION: This Sunday January 24th is the Susan P. Collins Memorial Wrestling Tournament at Oak Park River Forrest High School.  Last year, this was an extremely well run tournament.  Weigh-ins are from 6:00 - 8:00am.  There is no pre-registration required.  Just show up and turn in one IKWF tournament card (from the perforated sheet) in at weigh-ins.  Wrestling will begin when brackets are completed.  $15 per wrestler will be due at the tournament to Coach Ordonez.  View the Calendar Listing for the address and directions.

1/18/10  NO PRACTICE TONIGHT:  Reminder, there is no practice this evening.  We look forward to seeing all Groups at practice tomorrow night. 

1/17/10  TOURNAMENT RESULTS:  Congratulations to Joe and Tommy Helton on their performances at the IKWF Kids Open in Peoria, IL.  Both wrestlers entered the Elite divisions of their weight classes, the highest competition level, and both placed 4th in their brackets.  Be sure to visit the Tournament Results page to view the wrestler results.  View the photos in the Photo Gallery.

1/13/10  EXHIBITION MEET:  We have an exhibition meet this Sunday January 17^th at Lyons Township High School, North Campus.  Arrive at 8:45am, wrestling starts at 9:00am, it should finish by 10:30am and expect 3 to 5 matches per wrestler.  Participation in a meet is free for wrestlers but there may be a small door fee for spectators.  Visit the Meet Information page for details.  Visit the Calendar Listing for directions.  Wrestlers are to wear their new team shirts and shorts to the meet.

1/13/10  TEAM SHIRTS AND SHORTS:  The team shorts and shirts have arrived.  Most have been handed out at practice last night.  If you haven't received them yet, see Coach Schilling at the next practice for yours.

 1/10/10  TOURNAMENT RESULTS:  We had 17 wrestlers attend the Wheaton Wrestling Classic at Wheaton North High School.  Congratulations to all wrestlers that participated and expecially those that attended their first ever tournament, you all did extremely well against some very good competition.  Be sure to visit the Tournament Results page to view the wrestler results.

1/9/2010 TEAM APPAREL SALE:  We are taking orders for Jr. Dukes logo'd winter knit hats.  The hats are solid grey and will have the Jr. Dukes logo embroidered on them. 1/7/2010 PRACTICE CANCELLED TONIGHT:  Due to the snow, practice has been cancelled for all groups this evening.

1/4/2010 TOURNAMENT INFORMATION: This Sunday January 10th, we have a goal to take 20 wrestlers to the Wheaton Wrestling Classic at Wheaton North High School.  Last year, this was a very well run tournament.  They run 2 gyms, older wrestlers in one, younger wrestlers in another.  Coach Helton will be the lead coach in the older wrestler gym for the Jr. Dukes.  Coach Schilling will be the lead coach in the younger wrestler gym.  Weigh-ins are from 6:00 - 8:00am.  There is no pre-registration required.  Just show up and turn in one IKWF tournament card (from the perforated sheet) in at weigh-ins.  Wrestling will begin when brackets are completed.  $15 per wrestler will be due at the tournament to Coach Schilling.

12/18/2009 TOURNAMENT INFORMATION: If you wish to attend the Crosstown Classic tournament on December 27th at Bloom Trail, your wrestler(s) must sign-up at practice this Monday or Tuesday with Coaches Scott Helton or Ed Ordonez.  $15 per wrestler is due to the coaches when they sign up.

12/18/2009 GREEN GROUP HOLIDAY SCHEDULE: There are no Green Group practices for the next two weeks.  The next Green Group practice will be January 5th which will run on the new practice time from 6:30 to 7:30pm.

12/18/2009 NEW GREEN GROUP PRACTICE TIME: The Green Group has a new practice time.  Starting with their next practice to be held on Tuesday January 5th, practices will run from 6:30 to 7:30pm each night.  Practices will remain on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

12/16/2009 WEEKEND EVENTS: Wrestlers have two competition options this Sunday December 20th, an exhibition meet and a takedown tournament:

    Quad Exhibition Meet will be held this Sunday, December 20th at Lyons Township High School, North Campus and will include Lagrange, Hinsdale, Downers Grove and Glen Ellyn.  Arrive at 8:45am, wrestling will begin at 9:00am.  Coach Tom Klatt will be the lead coach.  Visit the Meet Information page for details.  Visit the Calendar Listing for directions.

    The Shark Frenzy Takedown Tournament will be held this Sunday, December 20th at Maine Township East High School.  This tournament is takedowns only and an excellent opportunity to enforce good takedowns for our wrestlers.  Visit the Tournament Information page for details.

UPDATED 12/9/2009 TOURNAMENT INFORMATION: We have two tournaments to pick from this weekend.  Both tournaments will be held on Sunday, December 13th.  Our goal is to take 10 wrestlers to each.  You must have your IKWF wrestling ID and tournament cards to participate.  If you have not yet received them, please see Coach Schilling at the next practice:

     The Jr. Blazer Open will be held at Addison Trail High School, Addison, IL.  Coach Scott Helton will be the lead coach for the Jr. Dukes at the Jr. Blazer Open.  There will be walk-on registrations, bring one IKWF weigh-in card and your USA Wrestling ID.  There is also a form to complete to turn in a weigh-ins.  Click here for the form.  Weigh-ins are from 6:00 to 7:30.

     The Big Cat Classic will be held at Stagg High School in Palos Hills, IL.  Coach Brian Schilling will the the lead coach for the Jr. Dukes at the Big Cat Classic.  There will be walk-on registrations, bring one IKWF weigh-in card and your USA Wrestling ID.  Weigh-ins are from 6:30 to 8:00.

12/6/2009 TOURNAMENT RESULTS: 8 Jr. Duke wrestlers participated in the Lancer Takedown Tournament held at Lake Park High School, East Campus.  All 8 wrestlers placed in the top 3 in their weight classes.  The Jr. Dukes took 4 first places, 3 second places and 1 third place finish.  Congratulations to Jeremy Schilling, Paul Cozzi, Christian Schilling and Dan Byrne on their first place finishes.  Click here to view the full list of participants.

12/3/2009 TOURNAMENT INFORMATION: This weekend's tournament is recommended for only Black Group wrestlers.  It will be held on Sunday December 6th at Lake Park High School East Campus, 600 S. Medinah Road, Roselle, IL  60172.  Weigh-Ins are 6:30 - 8:00am.  Wrestling will begin at 9:00 or when brackets are completed.  All wrestlers must have their IKWF card to participate.  Bring one card from the perforated sheet to be handed in at weigh-ins.  The entrance fee is $15 per wrestler due to Coach Brian Schilling at the tournament.  If you did not receive your IKWF card at Thursday night's practice, you can not participate.  If you recently turned in your IKWF form, some forms are still being processed by the IKWF and you will receive your card soon.  Good luck to all participating wrestlers!

11/9/2009 PRACTICE START DATES: The first Black Group practice will be Monday November 16th.  The first White Group practice will be Monday November 30th.  The first Green Group practice will be Tuesday December 1st.  For a list of wrestlers by group, please visit the Practice Groups Page.

11/8/2009 REGISTRATION: There will be an additional registration on Monday, November 9th at the York High School from 6:30 - 8:00.  Enter through door #5.

10/24/2009 REGISTRATION: Jr. Dukes sign up will be held on Tuesday October 27th at the York High School through door #5 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.

7/9/2009 SUMMER WRESTLING CAMP  Several Jr. Duke wrestlers participated in the Elmhurst College summer wrestling program.  Thanks to Elmhurst College for putting on a great camp, your efforts are greatly appreciated.

6/9/2009  REGISTRATION:  Signups for the 2009-2010 season will occur in the month of September.  Watch for school flyers or check back with this website for more information later this summer.
